F. J. DeLaine Elementary helps all students develop the world class skills, life and career characteristics of the Profile of the Graduate by providing a caring and safe environment where we build life-long learners who are given the necessary tools to excel in academics and in social responsibility. Our school vision is “Building a legacy of academic excellence and social responsibility, one student at a time.” We work to achieve this vision by focusing on professional development for staff, fostering relationships with our parents and community, and providing opportunities for our students to learn in both the classroom and by experience through field trips.
To be effective educators, we must be life-long learners. We participate in regular professional development through workshops here at the school, in the district, and state-wide. We focus our professional development on the Read to Succeed initiative led by our Reading Coach. Our School Improvement Council supports the Read to Succeed initiative by soliciting books from community families to increase classroom libraries.
To increase parental and community involvement, we provide opportunities for participation through math and reading parent workshops, parent-teacher conference nights, and PTA meetings where our students perform. We also embrace the support from our local military members at Shaw Air Force Base, fraternities and businesses.
